Clinical Approach

Heather is a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She works with her clients by supporting them in developing self-awareness and insight in the hopes to create a balance between mind, body, and spirit. Heather considers herself to take a client-centered/humanistic approach in therapy, collaborating with her clients to help create positive change. She is aware that therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” and uses a strength-based approach to empower clients in developing strong coping and communication skills. Heather strives to provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental atmosphere in her sessions that allow her clients to open up and talk about the often scary, uncomfortable, and messy parts of parenthood.

Heather is a wife and mommy to identical twin girls. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, whether that be scootering around the neighborhood or going on nature walks with her daughters, it is refreshing for her to be outside. She enjoys traveling and seeing new places, and even ventured to Europe for a month-long adventure (while her husband was assigned work there) when her girls were just 2 years old. She strongly believes in the power of community and getting out of the house to survive parenthood with young children.

She loves supporting new parents in the unique experience of raising multiples. After having children herself, Heather realized her new passion was working with moms and normalizing the difficulties, experiences, and challenges that present in the peri/postpartum period.

Now that her girls are older, Heather also enjoys helping parents navigate the big emotions and thoughts that older children experience. She enjoys sharing information with parents on how to best help their children with integration within the brain and making neural connections as they work to make sense of their thoughts and emotions. She believes in the power of internal thoughts and how this contributes to our sense of self as humans and has co-authored a book on self-affirmations for children with her husband.
